Large Polka Dot Carved Soapstone Heart

Soapstone or Kisii stone as it is known locally is quarried near the town of Tabaka in W. Kenya. After selecting the right stone for the job, then we carve out the heart using a machette, adze & finally a small knife for the detailed work. After it has been sanded smooth then we dye each heart to the desired color and adds an incised design if needed.
